Regular Seed Activities

Garden Days

When: First Saturday of every month 10 am to 11:30 am with a BBQ or shared meal afterwards.

What: The garden is a living space that needs a lot of love to keep it neat and producing herbs and vegetables to share with the community. Jobs on the day might include: weeding, mulching, compost turning, planting, harvesting or general maintenance.

Who: This is an active day for people new to gardening and for those with many years of experience, young and old. We also have some children sized tools and equipment that makes the day fun and educational.

Propagation Group

When: Second Sunday* of every month 10 am to 11:30 am with a coffee and cake afterwards.

What: The beating heart of Seed is the new plants which we grow for our public picking beds, for our pollinator garden, and to sell so we can deliver more communities opportunities. Tasks on the day might include: filling small pots with soil mix, pricking out baby seedlings, pressing seeds into containers, taking plant cuttings, potting on seedlings ready for sale and writing labels.

Who: This is a quieter day run mostly undercover, often seated and with heaters overhead in colder weather. People with zero planting experience are most welcome, but there is also an opportunity for knowledgeable gardeners seeking more technical advice to also build their experience with our resident horticulturalist.

*Occasionally its the 3rd Sunday if it clashes with a Garden Day weekend.
